2010 Old Sacramento Performer Missives Page
Historic Old Sacramento (HOS) In this HOS Missive:
THANK YOU for joining the Red Barn Players (and all you did was send Robert an email!) We now have a cast of over 50 individuals and several groups who want to help bring history alive in Historic Old Sacramento (HOS).You don't REALLY become a member until you show up, sign up, dress up and head out. But you will continue to receive this special HOS Missive. Thanks in advance for reading on and learning what comes next... ____________________________________________________________ WORKSHOP WEEKEND June 12/13 - classes & scheduleHere are some of the classes being offered: Character Development, Meet & Greet, Road Raising (the building of Old Sacramento), Plenty of history in context, The Spirit of Stagecraft: Heroes and Villians of the Gold Rush, Costume Support ( -- its not just a corset anymore). Here's how to participate in workshop weekend (come one or both days!): Show up (car pool if you can), bring a lunch (plenty of food in HOS too). Plan to have fun and perhaps audition for one of the parts listed below. Where: Under the trees in front of the Sacramento History Museum. This Museum is located between the River and the Railroad Museum. (link above) Schedule: Saturday and Sunday June 12/13
Parking? Free. Park in Lot "I" at the end of "I" Street and across from the Railroad Museum. Ask us to have it validated.
Directions:
California State Railroad Museum - Google Maps link Before "I" Street turns the corner, as you approach Old Sac, is the entrance to the public parking structure.
Costume Note: please come in costume! There will be photographers there looking for PR shots AND Liz Martin will be on hand - both days! - to provide costume guidance... and don't forget the OS Dry Goods Store on J Street. They even sell shoes! (link under "Benefits") __________________________________________________ Every day of the program (11 weekends from June 19 to August 29) will include our signature show, "The New Golden Melodeon Review" at 1:00, and numerous other activities and mini-performances "on the boards" around HOS. However! We have designed a special Theme for every weekend as follows:
You will need to RSVP via email to robert@redbarnproductions.org and "sign up" for the days you plan to join us. This way we can plan to have you join us for the Player's Buffet AND we can post your name on the character list on the greenroom "big board." When you arrive at the Eagle Theater on the performance day, just come down to the greenroom, sign in, and read the "big board" to see what's what. If you have questions, someone will be on hand to provide answers. That's it. It's that easy. Collaborations with our directors (emails below) and with other Players will be largely organic to begin with. HOS is a great stage - a blank canvas! ______________________________________________________

The dancers and miners of the Gold Rush need music! The charming delights of our New Golden Melodeon would be incomplete, dare we say impossible without the talents of our historic music community. Fiddlers! Squeezebox Players! Flutists! We need you! Not only for the day's entertainment but especially for our dancers and callers. A Hootenanny isn't a hoedown without players! Contact Chase Williams at daywilliams@earthlink.net.
