Red Barn Productions proudly presented the entertainment & living
history program for Railfair '99, one of the largest and
most elaborate railroad festivals in the world, taking place in Old
Sacramento, California. Visiting locomotives and railroad cars, train
rides, live entertainment and performances, unique and colorful exhibits,
children's activities, and living history demonstrations made this an
event for the whole family. The California State Railroad Museum celebrated
the many ways railroads have helped transform California from a distant,
mythical land into one of the most diverse and productive regions on
earth.
Railfair '99 told the story of 170 years of growth, progress,
and westward expansion. It celebrated the many ways in which railroads
have shaped our lives, our economy, and our culture. It used the railroad--its
workers, equipment, music, experiences, and heritage--as a way to understand
who we are as a people and what is so special about the Golden State.
As past Railfairs at the California State Railroad Museum--in both 1981
and 1991--this was a celebration that history and technology enthusiasts
everywhere didn't want to miss!
